Poppies (1st and 5th grade contributors)

The artwork is not the same, yet there is enough similarity I can tell there was good instruction.  The poppies in the stairwell are among my favorite art projects.  Mrs. Stephan does a beautiful job providing aesthetic relief to what could be a stark wall through displaying the children’s work.  I can hardly believe these are the work of first graders.  Isn’t the variety fascinating?!

The poppies lead me to Flanders Field, and more sobering content.  The fifth graders have memorized the poem.  Sister Mary Gabriel captured a few of the children reciting it this morning for reproduction here.  What a beautiful way to impact the children and draw their minds to what will endure.

Thank you students and thank you, teachers for your hard work, especially these closing days.  May the Good Lord bless us all, and help us be aware of His manifold gifts.
